About Ashraya Social Welfare & Rehabilitation Center

Ms. Leela Deshpande and a few friends used to go to different slums and were doing Awareness programmes on health, education, hygiene etc. At that time, they found 2 kids at Bhupasandra slum. They had lost their parents in an accident. The slum people kept them away. Leela brought them home and tried to put them in some orphanage. Because they were disabled no one was ready to keep them. So Leela’s grandfather provided support to start an orphanage. They started the orphanage named ASHRAYA. (shelter)
